Is there a scientific explanation of the feats Shaolin monks etc can accomplish with chi?

Such as the ability to prevent a spear blade penetrating the flesh of their neck to the point where they can actually break the shaft by pushing forward. This seems an impossible thing. What actually happens in the skin and muscle?

Is there a scientific explanation of the feats Shaolin monks etc can accomplish with chi?
yes, its called "myth" or "fraud" or "magic trick".

penn and teller could repeat the same trick and add some comedic end to it.

strongmen can bend steel with thier necks, the way they do it is the steel is placed against bone- not flesh- I would imagine this parlor trick works much the same way. then it is a simple matter of pushing against the shaft in a way that works to break it, by bending it first.

"chi" is not magical- if there is no logical real world and scientifically testable explanation for it- it likely going to be a bogus claim.

EDIT: If it can't be scientifically proven or tested, all you have is a belief. Until you can prove it, it is simply called "faith".
Reply:no, i am pretty sure it issnt a trick!

it comes down to mind over matter, i am really BIG on things that cant be explaned. looking for explanatons. i cant seam to find this one. this proves that not everythign has a scientific explanation!
Reply:htere is both fact and fiction in the claims of teh shaolin masters. i hev experienced soem amazxing things when i was practicing the arts jstu bu focusing my mind: weightlessness, feeling energy and prescience. the mind is an amazing thing when it is focused
Reply:Chi exists but science cant measure it.
Reply:Science may not be able to truly measure it, but a monk was studied in New York doing Qigong and they were actually able to capture the qi in a heat signature. It was pretty trippy.
Reply:Not sure how it works. I saw a TV show once where they were trying to figure it out. They took some monks to the top of a snow covered mountain and covered their bodies with wet sheets. In a little while, their bodies had given off enough "energy" to dry the sheet. If I were able to do that, I wouldn't be moving south where it's warm. I wonder if Uncle Fester used Chi to fire up that light bulb he used to put in his mouth...
