What were the techniques used by the shaolin monks to condition they're bodies?
I don't feel like looking up links for you but I can tell you this. The monks of Shaolin trained hard, day and night, hot and cold, day in and day out for years.

They did grueling water drills. Ran up mountains. finger jab sand, stone and in some cases metal.

They did not complain, they did not speak. They ate food they raised by their hand without injuring nature.

Their training was part of their lifestyle. It is no joke and I feel very few modern martial artist can compare to this. ( Who can with having to work full-time, take care of a house and family, etc...?)
Reply:Tai-Chi. constantly moving. This is great, has great moves and certainly makes you feel great. GUNG-FU TAI-CHI.com
Reply:They beat their heads against punching bags, drove their fingers into vats of hot sand, did situps, leg raises, push ups, etc.. Some of it was very stupid, some not so bad.
Reply:iron palm bag for two hours a day palming the. They had a wall sand finger bag for piercing skin about an hour on that. Many many hours of meditation clearign ones mind basically the opposite of what modern millitaries do in conditioning. they sparred for hours a day. And they took care of there monastaries and temples maintaining, fishing eating rice water, soy to survive. They did acrobatics, flips and streching for even more hours of the day. and hours upon hours of discipline training. So they had no life unless your willing to guit your job and say move to a mountain or forest i don't think you should attempt learning shaolin kung fu seriously. Modern kung-fu although more less disciplined is easier to learn.. you should try one branch of hun-gar kung-fu, or simply takign Wing-chun fung fu.
