Does anybody know, what is the religion of a shaolin monk?

There is only one official temple located at Song Shan in the Henan province of the Peoples Republic of China.





The true monks are seldom seen by the outside world (they rarely leave the temple) and study Ch'an (Zen) Buddhism with their masters.





Most "monks" seen by the outside world are not full monks, but students trained in Shaolin wushu (martial arts, like kung fu).

Does anybody know, what is the religion of a shaolin monk?

The Shaolin monastery does exist, it is now under the (unwanted) auspices of the Chinese Government and they are indeed Chan Buddhists.
