Shaolin Discipline?

What is your opinion on the Shaolin discipline? Is there anyone out there that practices it?

Shaolin Discipline?
True Shaolin Discipline is rigorous and relentless....peaking your physical and mental abilities beyond your average concept of limitation! This art of arts is the grand daddy of most other forms of martial arts and is truly deep and profound with balance to the mind, body, %26amp; soul developed along with nature and your anilmalistic styles of blending man and the wild of the beasts!! Discipline comes from the constant trianing and complete focus to the inner self within us all!!Truly Amazing art ....wish I could study this in its raw form in China.......I would love to travel here to experience the majesty!!

Reply:I think Shaolin is a very interesting style. It is a root for many arts.

If I had a decent place to study it I would check it out.
Reply:I suppose that depends on what you mean by "Discipline." I study Shaolin Kung Fu, the Martial Art. I think it's great. But if you mean their religion, I think of it the same as any other Buddhist sect.
Reply:i am as well a student. I think it is an excelent art as it teaches you inner peace as well as great self defense.
Reply:It's a matter of personal prefernce which 'art' you choose to follow.

Many years ago, a variant of Shaolin Kung Fu sprang up in Japan and became known as Shorinji Kempo (Sho-rin being the Japanese pronunciation of Shaolin)

Reply:Well I've been doing it for 3 years and feel it was an excellent choice for me. Its a well rounded martial arts, focusing on defense, offense, blocking, and discipline. I'm at the dojo five days a week and never tire of it. Speak very highly of it.
Reply:I studied Northern Shaolin for 12 years under Sifu Wing Lam. One of the highlights of those years was a study tour to Shaolin in China to study under the Shaolin monks.

Its the greatest. I had studied Shotokan Karate and Aikido before I started studying Shaolin.

I had to stop because of a hip injury otherwise I would still be practicing it. Sifu Wing Lam is an outstanding instructor. The school format has changed but every minute with him gives you much deeper understanding of the art.
